May 2010
You may have noticed a lot of student/volunteers at Nonotuck lately. We are lucky to have students from many different programs join us throughout the year. Students and volunteers enrich our program in many ways...
March 2010
I have been thinking of our name lately - especially the community part of it. What does that community signify, why is it in the middle of our name, where did it come from, and how are we a community school. To answer the why, what, and where I think we need to look back to the beginning of Nonotuck...
Winter 2009
Nonotuck is licensed, as are all Massachusetts early care and education programs in private centers and schools and family child care homes, by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
Fall 2009
We can predict that this time of year will be unpredictable and that there will be excitement and acceptance about change mixed with a few (and sometimes many) tears.
Summer 2009
This is the time of year when we seem to look both forward and backward simultaneously...
April 2009
As you know, even though the snow has barely melted, we have begun thinking about the upcoming summer and fall transitions. Children who will be going to kindergarten next year visited their new schools in February, and my phone begins ringing off the hook in January with parents who hope their children will be attending Nonotuck in the Summer or Fall...
February 2009
An important part of creating a classroom community is making connections between home and school. I can certainly see this principle in action as I look around the classrooms at Nonotuck...
November 2008
One day recently I couldn't find any Polliwogs, Frogs, Possums or Chameleons in the classrooms at Nonotuck. I could, however, find penguins, ladybugs, an elephant, and a skunk. Not to mention pirates, superheroes, an ice princess, and Viola Swamp-as well as a room full of children in their pajamas!...
September 2008
We have reached the middle of September, and this morning it definitely felt like the whirlwind of change that started at the end of June had calmed. Children who are new to Nonotuck or new to a classroom and the peers they are joining are becoming a cohesive group ready to embark on new adventures together...

September-October 2007
I would like to welcome or welcome you back for another year at Nonotuck. And a very exciting year it is, as it is our 30th anniversary this year! While Nonotuck is a year round program, September definitely feels like the beginning of the year...
June-August 2007
It was so great to see everyone at the annual meeting and to once again have everyone participate in the important co-op responsibility of electing new members to the parent board...
March-April 2007
When the snow begins to melt and the sap begins to flow, I have to start thinking about more than the maple syrup and sugar on snow I have been making with the 5:30 kids. I am also deep in thoughts and paperwork as I "do enrollment" for the summer and September...
February 2007
I would like to thank parents for returning the annual Program and Classroom Evaluations. In addition to informing annual teacher evaluations and board policies, the feedback we received will also help us to prepare for our NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) re-accreditation...
November 2006-January 2007
Nonotuck and most other early education and care programs in Massachusetts are licensed by the state Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)...
September-October 2006
One of the most important aspects of Nonotuck is the individuality that teachers bring to their classrooms and programs...
July-August 2006
The Parent Handbook holds answers to a host of questions...
June 2006
Someone who doesn't know me very well said to me the other day, "You must love this time of year when everything slows down for you." Well... it doesn't really slow down, it actually gets more intense...
